Application field

Alpha-methyl styrene linear dimer (AMSD) is an important chain transfer agent or molecular weight regulator, widely used in the polymerization reactions of acrylic resin, coatings, inks, polystyrene, AS, ABS, EPS, PS, styrene-butadiene latex, acrylic-styrene latex, chloroprene rubber, and other products. It plays a role in reducing the branching degree of polymer chains, adjusting the molecular weight of polymers, and controlling the uniformity of molecular weight distribution.
The commonly used molecular weight modifiers such as mercaptans (dodecyl mercaptan, tert-butyl mercaptan, etc.) have a special odor that is difficult to dissipate, failing to meet environmental protection requirements. There is an urgent need to find new high molecular weight modifiers with similar efficiency. AMSD, as a molecular weight modifier, is hydrogen-active on the straight-chain carbon 3 position, allowing it to be captured by long-chain radicals to seize atoms or groups. The long-chain radical is then converted into a chain-terminating macromolecule and regenerates a radical with initiation and growth activity. Its effect is similar to that of mercaptan active hydrogen. Moreover, as a high-performance molecular weight modifier, it only reduces the degree of polymerization or molecular weight, without affecting the polymerization rate. The AMSD product developed by our company has met the technical specifications of similar foreign products through testing, making it an ideal product to replace imports.

The addition ratio of this product is 1 ~ 4%. or add according to customer usage requirements

Packaging form

This product is packaged in galvanized drums, with 200kg per drum. Packaging options can also be arranged according to customer needs.
